The De.co.co Manifesto
The Decolonize & Cooperate Collective (De.co.co) exists to catalyze
cultural change toward decolonial ways of being,
and to develop the knowledge and tools required for
meaningful online cooperation.
We act in with you! If you act in solidarity with
cooperatives, digital commons builders, decolonial
technologists, and all who practice coordination
in the service of dignity and justice.
We're not here for BS: If it doesn't confront power
or create collective value, count us out!
We aspire to become a community where people with
different skills, experiences, and visions come
together to build shared value—while staying
connected, supported, and inspired.
We study. We organize. We create. We share.
Knowledge? Art? Collective intelligence tools?
Code? Protocols? Memes? You bet!
We nurture infrastructures that evolve beneath and
beyond the mainstream. The underground will grow
naturally—where the centralized fails, the
cooperative roots.
We acknowledge our hyper-individualist world
shaped by systems that prioritize capital
accumulation and hierarchical power.
Yet networked systems—cooperatives, commons,
DAOs—continue to emerge and experiment with
alternative modes of organizing. We aim to amplify
their insights and support the counter-cultural
shift they represent.
We believe something vital wants to be born through
us: a living network of mutual care, creative power,
and courageous action.
We want success that isn’t measured by scale, but by
coherence:
of values, of impact, of shared purpose.
We recognize the deep harm capitalism and fascism
have inflicted on communities and ecosystems
alike.
We believe in prototyping new worlds from the bottom
up—iteratively, collaboratively, and with care. We
orient toward a solarpunk horizon: ecological,
equitable, decentralized. And we are
building—imperfectly, but persistently—toward that
future.
